Automated Trendline Trading: Draw the Line, Let the System Wait for the Retest
You've drawn your trendline and you know the price is a buy when it comes back to the line — but you can't wait, or you're away from the screen when it happens. The Trendline Strategy lets you draw lines right on the chart. When the price returns near a line, an order is placed automatically, and once it fills, take-profit and stop-loss are set from the line.
This strategy supports Simulation: trades are filled against live prices, but no real orders are placed.
How it works
- 1
Draw lines on the chart
On the chart in the create form, drag two points to draw a trendline. You can draw up to 10.
- 2
Place orders as price nears the line
When the price is above the line, it waits for a pullback to the line and places a buy; below the line, it waits for a bounce and places a sell. Since the line moves over time, the order price is recalculated at every candle close until it fills.
- 3
Set TP and SL from the line after a fill
After a fill, take-profit is set a distance away from the line and stop-loss a distance past it. Both move with the line.
- 4
Cool down after each round
After a round ends, it can rest for the Post-completion cooldown before entering again.
Who it's for
- People who draw lines on charts and like to enter near a trendline
- People who often can't wait for the price to return to the line, or miss the retest
- People who want take-profit and stop-loss to follow the line without editing orders by hand
Key settings
- Draw Trendlines (up to 10)
- Drag two points on the chart in the form to draw a line. You can draw several.
- Position Sizing Mode
- Decide each order's size by margin, notional value or coin quantity.
- Entry offset (%)
- How close (%) the price must get to the line before the order is placed; a negative number means the price must actually cross the line to fill.
- TP from line (%)
- After a fill, how far from the line the take-profit sits.
- SL cross line (%)
- After a fill, how far past the line the price can go before stopping out.
- Post-completion cooldown
- Whether to rest for a while after a round ends before entering again.
Risks and things to know
The trendline is your own call. If the line is off or the market changes, the strategy still enters by the line and may stop out.
If the price hovers around the line, entries and exits may trigger repeatedly. A Near-line buffer or the Hug-line noise filter can help reduce this.
