Range-T: Hold a Base Position, Sell High and Buy Low Automatically in Ranges

You want to hold a coin long-term, but the price keeps moving within a range and you're not profiting from the swings. Range-T finds the recent range automatically, builds part of a base position, then sells near the top of the range and buys near the bottom, lowering your cost bit by bit.

This strategy supports Simulation: trades are filled against live prices, but no real orders are placed.

How it works

  1. 1

    Find the range automatically

Using your Detection candle interval and Lookback bars, it frames the range from the highs and lows of recent candles. You can also turn on the ranging filter to skip when the trend is too strong.

  2. 2

    Build the base position

It first buys part of your funds as a base position based on the Base position %, and keeps the rest to buy near the bottom of the range.

  3. 3

Sell high, buy low within the range

It sells near the top of the range and buys back near the bottom. Each trade's size is set by the T slice size as a share of the base position, gradually lowering your holding cost.

  4. 4

Stop out on a breakdown, hold on a breakout

If the price falls too far below the bottom, it stops out of everything and re-detects the range after a cooldown; if it breaks too far above the top, it just holds the base position and pauses the sell-high, buy-low trades.

Who it's for

  • People who want to hold a coin long-term and pick up extra gains while it moves sideways
  • People who want to gradually lower their holding cost but don't have time to trade the range themselves
  • People who want a clear stop-loss on a breakdown and don't want to sell their base position on a breakout

Key settings

Detection candle interval
Which candle interval is used to find the range. Longer is steadier but slower to react.
Lookback bars
How many recent candles' highs and lows frame the range.
Total investment (USDT)
The total this strategy will use, including the base position and the funds for range trades.
Base position (%)
How much to buy upfront as the base position; the rest is kept to buy the dips. Default 50%.
T slice size (%)
How big each sell-high, buy-low trade is, as a share of the base position.
Stop-loss on break (%)
If the price falls below the bottom of the range by more than this %, everything is closed.

Risks and things to know

If the price falls too far below the bottom of the range, the whole position is stopped out — both the base position and the range trades — and the loss is realized.

The range is framed from past highs and lows; when the market turns into a one-way move, the range can stop working quickly.

Futures only. The higher the leverage, the bigger the loss from the same drop.
