Custom Rule Trading: Build Your Entry and Exit Conditions Without Code
You already have your own trading rules — say, "go long when the close crosses above the moving average" — but you can't be there at every candle to follow them. Custom Rules lets you build entry and exit conditions from blocks, no coding needed. Backtest them against past prices first, and once you're happy, let the system run them.
This strategy supports Simulation: trades are filled against live prices, but no real orders are placed.
How it works
- 1
Build your entry conditions
Use indicator blocks like moving averages, RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands and volume to build long and short conditions. Choose whether all of them or any one of them must be met.
- 2
Checked only at the candle close
Conditions are checked once at the close of each candle in your Evaluation interval. When they're met it enters, and it only holds one position at a time.
- 3
Exits on whichever hits first
Fixed % take-profit and stop-loss, ATR multiples, swing high/low stops, rule-based exits and a max holding period (in candles) can all be on at once — whichever hits first closes the trade.
- 4
Backtest before going live
In the Confirm step, click "Try Backtest" to run the rules against past prices. Create the strategy once you're happy — it starts in Simulation by default.
Who it's for
- People who already have a set of trading rules and want the system to follow them
- People who can't code but want to automate their indicator conditions
- People who want to backtest ready-made rules first, then tweak them into their own version
Key settings
- Quick presets
- A few ready-made rules, such as channel breakout and moving-average cross. Apply one, then fine-tune it.
- Evaluation interval
- Conditions are checked once at the close of each candle on this interval.
- Notional per trade (USDT)
- The position size for each entry. Set leverage on the exchange yourself.
- Long entry
- Build the long rule with "Add condition"; turn it off to skip longs.
- Short entry
- Build the short rule with "Add condition"; at least one side, long or short, must be on.
- Exits
- Take-profit, stop-loss, rule-based exits and more can be on at the same time; you need at least one.
Risks and things to know
Backtest results show the past, not the future. After applying a ready-made rule, backtest it again on the coin you actually plan to trade.
The quick presets are all trend-following rules: they profit because winning trades are bigger than losing ones, not because they win often. Strings of small losses are normal, so be prepared for them.
Futures only. Leverage follows your exchange settings and magnifies both gains and losses.
